Love bold stripes, cozy plaids, and using color in your knitting? This workshop is all about creating eye-catching fabrics using simple techniques. Together, we’ll practice helical stripes, nearly jogless stripes in the round, and several techniques for creating plaid-inspired fabrics that look far more complicated than they are. The colorful linear fabrics we’ll create are full of personality – and so fun to knit. You’ll leave with new technical skills and plenty of fresh inspiration for adding color and dimension to your knitting.

Flat Sample: With US 10/6mm 4”/60cm knitting needle and color A, cast on 17 sts. Set-up Row (WS): P4, k1, (p3, k1) twice, p4. Row 1 (RS): K4, p1, (k3, p1) twice, k4. Row 2 (WS): P4, k1, (p3, k1) twice, p4. Leave the 17 sts on the needles and bring it to class. Do not cut Color A.
Circular Sample: With US 10/6mm DPN or magic loop and Color B, cast on 30 sts and, being careful not to twist the sts, place a beginning of round marker and join the work in the round. Adjust the sts on the needles so the beginning of round is at the center of a DPN (or needle in magic loop). Work in St-st (all knit) for 3 rounds. Cut Color B, leaving a 6”/15cm tail. Leave the 30 sts on the needles and bring it to class.
Optional Garter Stitch Sample: With US 10/6mm needles and desired color, cast on 17 sts. Work in Garter Stitch (all knit) for about 5”, adding stripes or color blocks as desired, and bind off.
