In this class you will learn one of the simplest and most adaptable sock heels: the afterthought heel. Afterthought heels are a great option for striping yarns, machine-cranked sock tubes, or any time you don't want to interrupt your knitting to stop and put in a heel. You will learn how and where to place the heel, how to pick up the stitches, how to decrease through the heel area, and different options for closing the heel. simpler invisible option for closing the heel.

Class Information
Skill Level
Advanced Beginner - Students should be able to knit, purl, increase, decrease, and work at a very small circumference in the round on either dpns, two circular needles, or one long circular needle.
Required Materials
At least 30 yards of sport, DK, or worsted-weight yarn
Needles in a size appropriate to working with the yarn; please bring a needle configuration you are already familiar with, either dpns or two short (16'-24') circular needles or one long circular needle for magic loop
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Two dpns at least two sizes smaller than the needles you will be using to knit with
Homework
Using the yarn and needles mention in the Required Materials list, cast on 30 stitches in the round and work four rows. Leave the stitches live and do not cut the yarn.
