Creating Your Own Sleeve Style

Sleeves are a complex part of a garment. They can add style and interest or dramatically change the overall silhouette. A sleeve has several different components, each of which can be modified. Combining variations of each of these components has led to a seemingly endless number of styles. In Kate’s session, we’ll get into the knitty-gritty of creating and working the sleeve, focusing on making adjustments to an existing pattern. We’ll review sleeve fit and talk about how to identify the right size when working from an existing pattern. We’ll also talk about the mathematics of changing the sleeve length and shape for both fit and style, and share some clever solutions for more complex fit challenges, like bicep circumference.
