Learning a new skill is most rewarding when it can be put to practical use. This four-week knitting program is designed to introduce the fundamentals of knitting through a series of simple, useful projects: two pairs of mitts and a cowl or if you prefer, using the same skills you can make tea towels instead, both sets of patterns are included in your class fee.
We will begin by learning the basic stitches and applying them to our first project: a pair of classic fingerless mitts, ideal for cool mornings when a bit of extra warmth is welcome. Our second pair will highlight our second stitch then our grand finale will be another piece of wearable fiber art.
Once the foundational techniques are established, we will move on to a cowl project. Using a yarn and color of your choosing and our class pattern, you will create your own versatile accessory that serves as a personal introduction to wearable fiber art.
By the end of the program, students will have both a solid foundation in knitting and finished pieces to wear or gift to someone special.
