Rosann Fleischauer

Rosann Fleischauer has been designing knitwear since she first picked up a pair of needles and some yarn on the advice of a friend who thought knitting might be a good hobby given her background in math and architecture. "Surprisingly, being able to break down a concept into its most basic and critical components does come in very handy when designing anything from a pillow to a dress. A background in management consulting comes in handy too, it helps me keep the work I do on behalf of my clients aligned within the parameters of their needs." according to Rosann.  "Maintaining schedules, working with a team to foster growth, and meeting project goals comes easily to me thanks to the skills I acquired in my previous career in management consulting within the financial services industry.  Like any other process, if you have a good foundation, cast on or foundation chain, you can build a good solution."

To compliment her knitting designs Rosann's Aunt Martha taught her the basics of crochet at her mom's dining room table.  She moved beyond the basics with the help of an incredibly patient friend who runs a monthly CAL at the local library.  Rosann does not favor one technique over another and prefers to design using one, the other or both depending upon the desired outcome. "Some yarns and concepts work best in knit, others in crochet. It's just the way it is, best not to fight it, push it- yes, but never fight it."

Rosann's first book, Cozy Coastal Knits, sold over 1000 copies in the first month following its release date June 1, 2023. Rosann's designs have appeared in magazines; KnitSimple, Vogue Knitting, Designer Knitting, Noro Magazine, I Like Crochet, I Like Knitting and Creative Knitting, as well as in five books; 60 Quick Cotton Knits, Noro Kureyon - the 30th Anniversary Collection, 60 Quick Beginner Crochet Projects, 60 Granny Squares and All Aboard, a collection of knit dresses.  To compliment her design work and hosting of make alongs, she consults with yarn companies and yarn stores, assisting them with their web experience, Ravelry presence, design initiatives,  and social media.
